There’s about £100 difference in price. Is it justified?

In our honest opinion, yes it is. 

Firstly, the high-torque cleaner head supplied with the Absolute is equipped with stiff nylon bristles and carbon fibre filaments, spinning a mind-boggling 60 times per second, delivering outstanding cleaning results!! 

In addition, the floorhead has an integrated digital motor, which measures the resistance at the cleaner head’s brush bar using Dyson’s innovative DLS technology to determine how much power is required. The V11 Absolute will then automatically select the most efficient cleaning mode – Auto, Eco or Boost – and adjust its suction to suit that particular floor type, achieving the highest standard of cleaning whilst conserving battery run-time.

The technology which can be seen on the Dyson V11 Absolute is head-and-shoulders above its nearest rivals. Inevitably, this advanced tech certainly doesn’t come cheap but, in our opinion, if you’ve decided on the V11, the Dyson V11 Absolute is worth paying the extra hundred quid for!

Pros and Cons

Why we like the Dyson V11 range

• It’s got a generous run-time – on a full, 4.5-hour charge, the V11’s battery lasts around 60 minutes, though the actual run time may vary depending on which power mode and attachments are used, and the type of floor you’re cleaning.

• It keeps you informed -‘it  gives you a to-the-second countdown of how much cleaning time you have left. It updates based on the setting you choose and will also let you know when it’s time to clean the filters or if there’s a blockage.
• It’s relatively quiet – acoustically engineered, designed to absorb vibrations and dampen noise, it keeps sound levels to a minimum.
• It’s efficient – the new ‘accessory clip’ slides on to the cleaning tube, giving you the option to ‘carry’ two mini tools with you as you clean.

What could be improved upon

• Cost – it’s pricey, there’s no denying that, but realistically, Dysons have never been cheap!  You get what you pay for and with the V11 you are getting a LOT for your money.
• Capacity – the dirt bin capacity of 0.76 litres is a bit on the small side; if we’re being picky. It just means you might have to empty the dust cup that little bit more often but, when they’re as easy to empty as the V11, it doesn’t really pose a problem!
• Limited run time – when being used on higher settings/greater power modes, the run time of the V11 can be limited; it’s always going to be the case with cordless electronics capable of that kind of power. 
• Battery saving trigger – the trigger needs to be held down to power the vacuum.  Dyson claims it’s to preserve the battery and we see their point, however, on a vacuum that can clean for up to an hour, would an on/off button or trigger latch holder not have made more sense?

Let’s be honest, Dyson have enough models for you to be able to find one that is going to be right for you – there are so many to choose from! The V11 is a powerful, cordless vacuum that is going to allow you to work in a wide range of environments thanks to its adjustable features. But it could be that the V11 isn’t the right model for you.

There is also the Dyson V10 to consider which is a slightly older and less powerful model but it is also going to be cheaper because of this. We have also reviewed the Dyson V8 which is a smaller model for if you have a small home to clean or just want a model that can do a quick tidy up through the week for you!

The V11 has 20% more suction and can run for up to an hour, dependent on mode and floor type compared to the V10 which could just about manage 45 minutes. The V11’s also got a digital display and battery-use countdown timer. 

Is the Dyson V11 heavy?

For a cordless vacuum with a big battery, the Dyson V11 is not particularly heavy. Granted, it’s heavier than the V10 by about 400g but at just under 3kg, that’s still around average. It is important to consider the weight, especially if you’re elderly or suffer from a bad back, as the increased battery life means you’ll potentially be cleaning for longer.
