Wera Screwdriver Set (VDE) Review
The Wera Screwdriver Set (VDE) is a premium 7 piece screwdriver set from Wera.
The set comprises:
- 1 x 80mm Phillips No.1
- 1 x 100mm Phillips No.2
- 1 x 0.4×2.5x80mm Slotted
- 1 x 0.6×3.5x100mm Slotted
- 1 x 0.8×4.0x100mm Slotted
- 1 x 1.0×5.5x125mm Slotted
- 1 x 0.5×3.0x70mm Slotted Voltage Tester
- 1 x Wall Mount Storage Rack
Each blade in the Wera Screwdriver Set is VDE certified for secure work at 1000 volts so you can rest assured that you can work safely in higher voltage environments.
Each screwdriver also features a laser-tip where micro grooves in the screw head bite into the screw more securely, this means that less contact pressure is required to hold the screw in place. This reduces the cam out effect (where the screwdriver slips) avoiding damage to both the screw and screw head.
The soft grip handles on the Wera Screwdriver Set are very comfortable to use even when applying high levels of torque. At no point did we experience the discomfort or friction burns that we have received using cheaper tool sets.
The handles also feature a hexagonal, anti-roll design which stops your tools from rolling away – this is handy when working on flat surfaces but shouldn’t be relied upon in the field.
Each handle is also clearly marked to aid in the quick sorting of tools either in the supplied wall mount or your tool bag – this is more useful than it initially sounds as most drivers only have markings on the shaft, making identifying the correct tool for the job tricky.
We found the small tester screwdriver to not be quite up to the same quality of the rest of the Wera screwdriver set, the handle felt cheap and it wasn’t as comfortable to hold as the others but overall this didn’t detract from our overall impression of the set.
We believe that the Wera Screwdriver Set is a great addition to any tool kit, and although it is on the more premium end of the price scale, it does still offer superb value for money.
Wera tools are well engineered, sturdy and likely to give you good service for years to come.
