The Black and Decker Mouse Sander is the perfect sander for the most intricate of task. This isn’t a sander for general sanding tasks, this is a detail sander and does a fantastic job of the correct task. A detail sander in our eyes needs to be able to achieve a few things;

  • Apply consistent pressure for a level smooth finish.
  • Allow you to get into the most intricate of areas.
  • Lightweight and comfortable to hold.

The Mouse does all of the above plus more. Its tear drop shaped base is perfect for allowing access into hard to reach areas It comes with removable tips as shown in the picture below. These extend where the Black and Decker Mouse Sander can reach, gaps that could only normally be reached by a multi tool like the Dremel Multitool.

Something that frustrates us with sanders of any description is ones that make changing sand paper a chore, as we are working on a project we go through sand paper frequently, this process needs to be simple and quick. Black and Decker have thought of this with their KA161BC detail sander the sanding sheets are velcro’d onto the sander for quick changing. Another issue we have typically with detail sanders is that there is a lot of sand paper wastage as you typically tend to use only the tip of the paper especially on intricate detailed work. The Black and Decker Mouse Sander counteracts this by having a rotatable base, so that you can get more use out of your paper! As well as its traditional associated tasks of sanding wood in detail the mouse also comes with a variety of accessories;

  • 1x Polishing Pad
  • 1x Rust removal pad
  • 2x 80G Sanding sheets
  • 3x 120G Sanding sheets
  • 1x 180G Sanding sheets
  • 1x Finger attachment

As you can see from the list of included accessories the Black and Decker mouse sander is also great for rust removal, paint removal and polishing metal, plastic and glass. The Black and Decker Mouse Sander is in our opinion one of the best budget detail sanders on the market at the moment. It comes in just under £20 and would make a great edition to anyone’s tool collection. As we said earlier we wouldn’t use it as a generic sander as that isn’t what it is designed for. However, if your general sanding is light use, such as sanding a chair then this might be just the ticket. Once you have finished the base this would be great for smaller gaps.
