Ryobi Palm Sander Review

We would describe the Ryobi ONE+ Corner Palm Sander as an endurance sander. When paired with the Ryobi One+ 4Ah Battery, the sander is capable of a staggering 120 minute run time (this can be even more with the newly released 5Ah battery!).

This means you can finish all but the largest sanding jobs on a single charge.

The compact triangular head and large square shaped base mean that you can perform precision detail sanding work in relative comfort and switch to more general sanding quickly and easily. The 1.8mm oscillation, while not as large as the recently reviewed Ryobi ONE+ Random Orbit Sander is more than capable of getting the job done. This coupled with the 22000 oscillations per minute makes short work of even the toughest sanding job.

The Ryobi ONE+ Corner Palm Sander also shares similar features to its larger cousins in the range. Its comfortable grip makes long sanding jobs easy on the arms and its Velcro based pad attachment system makes swap outs quick and easy.

Ryobi does supply accessory packs specifically for the Palm Sander which work brilliantly however cheaper, 3rd party options are available – although your mileage may vary.

Being part of the One+ range means that you can swap in batteries from Ryobi’s other power tools such as your Hand Vac (Check out our Ryobi One+ Hand Vac Review) allowing for extended running time.

We have written up an extensive overview guide to the whole Ryobi One+ Battery Range for your reference.

While it lacks the pure sanding power of its larger cousins, the Ryobi Palm Sander more than makes up for this with its precision sanding action and endurance and we’d happily recommend it.

  1. Hello Mike! I already have the Ryobi ONE multi tool (I find the pads come off easily and once they’re off, you can’t get the back on, what am I doing wrong?) and I want to buy either the orbital sander or the mouse sander, specifically/immediately, it’s to do a front door but will get used for much more in the future.

Can you recommend which one I should buy if I already have the multi tool?

Thank you, great articles, I’ve read a lot of them!

    • Thanks for reaching out Sarah. With all of these sort of tools we find that sometimes the velcro gets dust on them and makes their adhesiveness weaker. We find brushing them with a stiff hand brush tends to help.

It’s a tricky one as to which sander to go for as they both do something completely different. As you have the multi tool though I think I would go for the orbital sander and then the multi tool should take care of the more intricate sections of the door.
